Whirlpool Galaxy


Messier 51 commonly called the “Whirlpool Galaxy”. A beautiful example of an interacting  grand design spiral galaxy. Located in the constellation Canes Venatici, M 51 is approx. 23 million light years away.

8 inch RC telescope @ F/8, SB MyT mount, QSI 683 camera, Astrodon filters. Lum 99 x 480 seconds,
RGB binned 2×2 50 per channel x 240 seconds, Ha 72 x 900 (taken during full moon probably over did that a bit)

All prints  at 300 DPI
